The GRID Quarterly Facility Report provides valuable comparative statistics, such as patient wait time and turnaround time, and can help you identify opportunities for improvement by comparing your facility’s performance to peers and national benchmarks. Reports are posted quarterly. Reports are available in PDF format and are available for download under the Aggregate Reports menu item in the NRDR Homepage Facility Management menu.  A sample report can be found here.

The GRID Measure Definitions table provides a brief description of each measure listed in the report.

The Map of GRID Active Facilities page provides a visual representation of which facilities are included in the Regional comparison statistics in the report for the given reporting period, grouped by Census Region.

The GRID Process Measures Summary, Outcomes Measures Summary, and Incidents Rates Summary pages provide results for various GRID measures for each facility compared to each of the peer groups. Table cells are left blank for categories for which a facility did not provide data.

Facility values are based on averages and are compared to median values across GRID sites in various categories.  Categories in the report are dependent on your facility's characteristics so that the appropriate peer groups can be used for site comparison to the GRID registry (All GRID Sites).

  • GRID Volume Sites

    • < 50,000 exams

    • 50,000 – 150,000 exams

    • > 150,000 exams

  • GRID Region Sites

    • West

  • GRID Location Sites

    • Metropolitan

    • Rural

    • Suburban

  • GRID Category Sites

    • Academic

    • Community Hospital

    • Freestanding Center

    • Multi-Specialty Clinic

    • Other

  • GRID Children's Hospital (Non-Childrens/Childrens Hospitals)

  • All GRID sites for Current Year data

  • All GRID sites for Prior Year data (benchmark)

    • GRID Incident Rates Summary page does not include Prior Year benchmark since these values already apply to the previous year.

GRID TAT is also shown in comparison to numerous characteristics by Turnaround Time buckets as well (<12 hrs, 12-24 hrs, 24-48 hrs, and > 48 hrs).  These charts are broken down by Modality.

Facility characteristics charts show the number of active facilities by:

  • Category

  • Location

  • Number of radiologists

  • Region

  • Volume

Structural charts indicate how many facilities use the following systems in their practice.

  • Radiologist consult required before ordering image

  • Decision support available on order-entry system

  • Patient satisfaction survey specific to radiology in regular use

  • Electronic report access 24/7

Protocols charts provide counts of how many facilities in GRID have written protocols for:

  • Nephrotoxicity management

  • Pregnancy screening

  • Allergy screening

  • Communication of critical results

  • Communication of critical tests

  • Infection control

  • MR safety screening

The report provides detailed statistics for each measure including the number of sites measured, mean, median, standard deviation, and quartiles. Tables include statistics for all comparison groups while charts include trends for sites of the same facility type and all GRID sites. The measured facility’s rank is also provided as compared to other facilities in the same Census Region, facilities of the same type, and all GRID facilities. Reports include results for outcomes and incidents as well as process measures. The complete Statistics pages are listed as follows (Incident Rates pages do not include a variation graph). If your facility does not report data in the timeframe of the report for that particular measure page, the Site data will not show, but the variation graph will still be available, if applicable.
