The intended audience for this installation instructions is someone from the IT/Server team. The purpose of this article is to outline the steps required to install ACR Connect at your facility. IT and/or Server personnel with the appropriate knowledge and access at your facility are required to successfully install ACR Connect.


Please disable any anti-virus during the installation process. Some anti-viruses block dependency application from being installed causing an error.


Step 1: Downloading the ACR Connect Installer

  • Open PowerShell with Administrator rights and enter the following command: 
    Note: (PowerShell ISE is not supported at this time)

$downloadScript=([Scriptblock]::Create((Invoke-WebRequest https://c3.acr.org/download-connect/win-x64).Content)) ; Invoke-Command -ScriptBlock $downloadScript

          Note: This step can take up to 15 minutes to complete based on internet speeds

Step 2: Check ACR Connect Prerequisites

  • In the same PowerShell window run the following command to complete the mandatory prerequisite check:

    acrconnect-installer doctor

    Note: This command runs a series of checks on the system. These checks are done to give warnings of potential issues that may hinder an installation. Possible issues include port conflicts, lack of connectivity to ACR endpoints, lack of a valid SSL certificate on the system, or insufficient system specifications. Step 3: ACR Connect Installation

  1. In the same PowerShell window run the following command to being the installation:

    acrconnect-installer install

  2. EULA Agreement - Please read and agree to the terms of the ACR Connect EULA. Please enter Y to accept EULA.
  3. Activation - You will be prompted to activate ACR Connect with a valid ACR account.
    URL: https://activate-connect.acr.org/device
    Note: This user will become the first, and only Administrator of the local server. Other Administrators can be added after the completion of the ACR Connect installation. Please take this into consideration when activating.
  4. Installation of dependency applications - No user interaction is needed at this step.
    Note: This step can take up to 10 minutes to complete.
  5. Creation of backend DB account - This step is for the creation and encryption of the backend database. It is not needed for everyday use of ACR Connect. We typically recommend 'Admin' as the username and whatever password you prefer. Please ensure to retain these credentials.
    Note: There are no password requirements, other than the password can not be blank. Spaces are also not accepted and will result in an error.
  6. Installation of ACR Connect Components - No user interaction is needed at this step.
    Note: This step can take up to 10 minutes to complete.
  7. Do you have a certificate uploaded to the certificate storage?(Y/N): If you have created a certificate prior and placed it in the certificate manager, please enter Y and skip to step 11.If you have not, please enter N, and you will be provided steps to create a self-signed certificate.
  8. Do you want to proceed with a self-signed certificate?(Y/N): Please enter Y to continue to next steps to creating a self-signed certificate.
  9. Please enter the DNS that is designated for this ACR Connect installation: Please enter the preferred URL that will be used for the server. We typically recommend using the FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) of the server.
    Ex. server1.acr.org
  10. Are you sure want to create certificate with above details?(Y/N): Here you confirm the details of the certificate. If details are correct, please enter Y to continue. If they are not correct, please enter N to return to Step 9 or to return to jump to the Certificate Selection option. Please skip to Step 13.
  11. Please select your certificate: Use the up and down arrow keys on your keyboard to highlight the desired certificate. Please enter to select the certificate.
  12. Confirm the Certificate: Enter Y to confirm the selected certificate. Press N to return to Step 11.
  13. Would you like to use the default data storage path? (Y/N): Please enter Y to continue. and skip to Step 15. If you chose to use a different storage path, please enter N and continue to Step 14.
  14. Please add a data storage path (case sensitive): Please enter the full path of the intended storage location.
  15. Would you like to identify the site where Connect is installed? (Y/N): Please enter N to continue, this option has not been completed at this time.
  16. Node Registration - No user interaction is needed at this step.
    Note: This step can take up to 20 minutes to complete.
  17. Completion: If everything completed successfully you will be provided with the details of the installation.
