The CDSR provides facilities with access to their image-ordering clinical decision support data that correspond to imaging CMS Priority Clinical Areas, and several other imaging areas.
The CDSR data can identify imaging exam ordering patterns for some of the most commonly ordered exams to pinpoint areas where best practices are being followed as well as areas in need of improvement. Participation benefits include:
Access CDS data with no facility IT set up required – data are sent to the registry from the CDS vendor directly to the ACR.
CDSR reports provide quantitative data about improvements achieved and monitor how well achievements are maintained over time. Reports contain filtering and drill-down functionality by a variety of dimensions including R-SCAN topic, imaging clinical indications, ordering department/practice/groups, etc. to help draw insights from the data. Currently, reports are site-specific; registry comparison reports are not yet available.
Review image-ordering adherence to the ACR’s Appropriateness Criteria for a growing list of imaging areas, both facility-wide and by service line.
Gain insight into trends in imaging exam volume for a specific date range and over time.
Use the CDSR report data to conduct an R-SCAN practice quality improvement project -- a mechanism for radiologists and referring clinicians to collaborate on improving the ordering of imaging exams that add value to patient care. Completing an R-SCAN QI project affords clinicians:
Qualification for Practice Improvement CME (up to 20 CME credits).
Access to an archive of educational material for each R-SCAN topic including activities that award CME and provide hands on experience with clinical decision support.
Participation and Fees
Participation at this time is open to facilities that have CareSelect Imaging/ACR Select provided by the National Decision Support Company (NDSC). Interested facilities must complete an NDSC data transfer authorization form. Request the form for your facility at rscaninfo@acr.org.
There are no participation fees through December 2021 at which time the benchmarking reports and associated measures are expected to be available.
To get started:
Have your NRDR corporate account administrator add the CDSR to facilities that would like to participate.
How to Submit Data
Through the integration of CareSelect Imaging into a facility’s electronic health record (EHR), CDS transactional data are stored in the NDSC database and transmitted to the ACR using an NDSC-developed web service. No additional IT support is required.
Transmissions from NDSC to CDSR include procedure-related data only, along with patient age; no Protected Health Information (PHI) is sent to the registry. Once data are stored in the database only facility-designated representatives are granted access to view their facility’s data.
